Privacy Policy

Who we are

LegalReportCard ("we," "us") is a service of CDWJ LLC and operates legalreportcard.com, a family-law attorney review directory, judicial officer directory, and divorce-recovery resource. Questions about this policy or your data: help@legalreportcard.com.

What we collect

• Account information: if you create an account, your first and last name, email address, phone number, zip code, and a password. Passwords are stored in hashed (scrambled) form; we cannot read them.
• Email verification without an account: to leave a review or share a story you do not need an account. We email a six-digit code to confirm your address, and we keep the verified email so we can reach you about what you submitted.
• Reviews: review text, ratings, your relationship to the attorney (client, family, and so on), your display choice, and any documentation you choose to provide for verification.
• Stories: your account of a case, the state and (optionally) county, case types, how the case resolved, the attorneys and court officials you name, your connection to the case, any safety concern you flag, and (optionally) a case number and a supporting document.
• Suggestions: details and (optionally) a screenshot you send when you suggest an attorney or a judge we are missing, and your email or phone number if you ask us to tell you when the page is live.
• Guide requests: when you download the Divorce Survival Guide without an account, your name and email, and (optionally) your phone number and where you are in the process. If you check the box asking for follow-up emails, we also record that you agreed, the date, and the exact wording you agreed to. If you are signed in, we use your account details instead of asking again.
• Messages: contact requests you send to mediators or to us, and profile update requests.
• Technical basics: we use your browser's local storage to remember preferences and your session on this device. Our infrastructure providers maintain standard server logs (IP address, request data) to operate and secure the service.

Evidence and personal details you give us

Case numbers, court documents, fee statements, retainer agreements, screenshots, and similar proof are evidence you have trusted us with. So are your email address, phone number, county, and your role in a case. We handle all of it the same way:

• Only our team sees it, and only to verify what you submitted and to contact you about it. It is never published, never attached to your story or review, and never shown to the attorney, the judge, the other party, or anyone else.
• No voluntary sharing, ever. We do not share it with anyone, including law enforcement, the other party, attorneys, or judges.
• Disclosure only when legally compelled, by a court order or other legal process we cannot lawfully refuse.
• Notice first. Where the law allows, we will tell you at the email you gave us before we disclose anything, so you have the chance to object.
• The minimum. If we are compelled to disclose, we disclose only what the order specifically requires.

You can ask us to delete your evidence at any time by emailing help@legalreportcard.com.

This section applies to all personal information on the site and overrides anything else in this policy about disclosing it.

How we use it

To operate the directories and your account, verify and moderate reviews and stories, work with you on the version of your story that publishes, tell you when your story or a page you asked about is live (if you ask us to), deliver the guide, respond to messages, send service messages such as verification codes, and improve the site; and, only if you opted in, send follow-up resources and offers. That's it.

Emails we send

• Service emails: messages about something you did, such as verification codes and notices about your review, story or suggestion. These are not marketing and do not depend on any checkbox.
• Follow-up and offer emails: only if you check the box on the Divorce Survival Guide form. They carry follow-up resources and offers of help from Evolve & Thrive Mediation and Divorce Coaching, CDWJ LLC's coaching practice. Checking the box signs you up right away, and we send a welcome email so you can confirm the address is yours, or remove it with one tap if it is not. The guide downloads whether or not you check the box.
• Your choices: when you check the box, you can pick which topics you want and tell us your state; the link in the welcome email lets you change them and leave a note. We send offer emails only on topics you picked, and every one has a link to change them. Your topics, state and note are kept with your sign-up, seen only by us, never put in an email subject, and deleted on request at help@legalreportcard.com. Unsubscribing stops the emails and keeps them unless you ask us to delete them.
• Unsubscribing: every offer email has an Unsubscribe link, and your mail app's own Unsubscribe button works too. Unsubscribing stops offer emails and leaves service emails alone. You can also write to help@legalreportcard.com.
• Discretion: offer emails come from "LegalReportCard" with plain subject lines, so they do not announce a divorce in a shared inbox.
• No sharing: we never give your email address to attorneys or anyone else for their own marketing. Resend delivers our email for us.
• No marketing texts: the phone number on the guide form is optional and is never used for marketing.

SMS / text messaging

LegalReportCard is a service of CDWJ LLC. When you add your phone number to your account, we send a one-time verification code by SMS from CDWJ LLC to confirm your number and secure your account. This is a transactional service: a code is sent only when you request one during signup or login. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages.

If you suggest a judge on our site and choose to be told by text, we send one text message from CDWJ LLC (LegalReportCard) about that suggestion to the mobile number you give: when the judge's page is live, or if we already list that judge. That number is kept only with your suggestion and used for nothing else. You agree to this text by ticking its own box on the form; ticking it is not required to submit a suggestion.

• Message and data rates may apply.
• Message frequency varies: verification codes when you request them, and one text for each judge suggestion you ask to be told about.
• Reply STOP to opt out at any time. Reply HELP for help, or email help@legalreportcard.com.

We do not sell or share your mobile number or SMS opt-in information with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes. Text-messaging opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third parties.

What we never do

• We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
• Attorneys cannot buy access to user information, reviews, or reviewers' identities.
• We never share your evidence or personal details voluntarily. See Evidence and personal details you give us.

Who processes data on our behalf

Like nearly every website, we rely on service providers to run our infrastructure. They process data only to provide their service to us. This is how the site runs, not sharing:

• Supabase: database and private file storage, including documents you upload (hosted in the United States)
• Cloudflare: website hosting, content delivery, and security
• Anthropic: AI processing our team uses to read screenshots you send, for example to pull a judge's name and court from an image
• Resend: delivering our emails, including verification codes
• Twilio: sending one-time SMS verification codes, and the one text you asked for about a judge suggestion
• Google: web fonts; and the Google Maps Platform / Places API, used to display some attorneys' Google ratings. By using those features you also agree to the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service, and Google's handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference.

What is public

Approved reviews, including your display name, ratings, and review text, are visible to anyone who visits the site. Stories publish only after you approve the final version, and show your initials only, or "Anonymous" if you flagged a safety concern. Accounts from someone other than a party to the case are labeled that way. Your email address, phone number, case number, county, documents, and role in the case are never displayed publicly. Think carefully before including identifying details about yourself or others in what you write.

How long we keep things

Account data is kept while your account is active. Reviews and stories that are removed or rejected are retained internally (not displayed) as a moderation and accountability record, under the same protections as everything else in this policy. You can request deletion of your account and data at any time by emailing us; we will honor it except where we are legally required to keep a record.

Your choices and rights

You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it: help@legalreportcard.com. Depending on your state of residence, you may have additional privacy rights under state law; we honor valid requests regardless of which state you live in.

Children

This site is intended for adults and is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Passwords are stored hashed, uploaded documents are kept in private storage that only our team can open, database access is restricted by role-based security rules, and administrative actions require separate authentication. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take protecting your information seriously and limit what we collect in the first place.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. Material changes will be noted on the site.
